Trucking giants commit to self-driving trucks powered by Ike software
We’re proud to share that Ike has announced major customers for their self-driving trucks, including Ryder, DHL, and NFI. These fleets have reserved the first 1,000 trucks “Powered by Ike.” For more, see yesterday’s exclusive WSJ coverage.
Ike’s business model is novel: instead of trying to scale its own fleet, Ike convinces existing truck makers to build Ike-enabled hardware into their vehicles. Then, fleet operators pay Ike for the software that drives the trucks. It’s a SaaS business.
Automating long-haul trucking can save lives, optimize fleet utilization, and employ more truck drivers closer to home. Last year, a Yale economics professor’s study of Ike’s long-haul / last-mile handoff model concluded that automation could create 140,000 new local trucking jobs.
We’re proud to have backed Ike from the start. Congratulations to Alden, Nancy, Jur, Sachin, and the entire Ike team. Thank you for including us in your journey, and here’s to the long road ahead.
