Trade on events: Kalshi unveils beta

neo.substack.com

Hi Neo family,

After years of regulatory and tech innovation, Kalshi has opened its public beta as the first U.S.-regulated exchange where anybody can trade on event outcomes. Read CEO Tarek Mansour’s heartfelt and visionary message putting this epochal moment in its proper historical perspective.

I still remember the afternoon in April 2019 when Tarek and his cofounder Luana Lopes Lara pitched us on their bold idea. We knew it would be an almost impossible journey, and we knew instantly that we wanted to back it.

Over the subsequent years, with every challenge and every temptation towards an easier technical or regulatory option, Tarek and Luana steadfastly chose the most ambitious path. Along the way, their vision and grit attracted an incredible team of dreamers and builders (many from Neo) who share in the credit for Kalshi’s momentous accomplishments.

Today completes the first leg of this journey. This is just the beginning of a much longer journey to build a company that lasts for generations. It’s also the dawn of a new era in financial history, as people and institutions discover that they can hedge their risks or invest in their predictions by trading directly on event outcomes.

Try it out at Kalshi.com, and please retweet the announcement.
